Ben Brantley is a Motherfucker
...according to Josh Brolin, that is!
“I hate that motherf——-,” Brolin says, “And I don’t think he’s a good writer.”
Update 1/7/09: Defamer brings us more from the delightfully inebriated Brolin's speech that night:
"Quite an actor, Sean Penn, quite an actor. [Pause] Amazing. [Pause] And now I'm an asshole. Like Russell Crowe. Because I'm not as smart as Sean. [Pause] Quite an actor. [Pause] Amazing actor. I've loved you in Milk, I thought what you did with that role was incredible. We've known you as an actor who doesn't smile very much. And the fact that you smiled as much as you did in this film is amazing. Truly incredible. You are an amazing actor. You are going to get the Oscar. Because you smiled so much."
Amazing, indeed! Yes, Sean Penn is quite an actor.

Because I needed another reason to love Josh Brolin! You go Josh!
Mainstream theatre critics endow themselves with far too much power and we as a the theatre going public allow it. I always ask friends, colleagues and independent bloggers [WINK WINK] about their feelings on a show rather than seek out reviews from these pompous self-aggrandizing douchebags.
I love him too. And you know what, Brolin said this as he accepted an award from the New York Film Critics Circle for his role in MILK, so I'm sure the comment was part of a joking tirade against critics as he accepted an award from them, and not some vitriolic spiteful diatribe. And I'm sure Ben Brantley is quite accustomed to actors calling him a motherfucker.
He also called Russell Crowe an asshole. Only makes me love him more!
