Things the World Does Not Need Want: Recession Edition

Did I like Katie Holmes in All My Sons? No. Do I want to see her in the musical version of Finding Neverland? No! Do we need Katie Holmes in another Broadway show? Unfortunately, much as it pains me to say so, maybe we do. All My Sons is one of the few shows that has done really well in spite of hard times, and if it takes Katie Holmes to get the butts in the seats... well... then... ugh, maybe we do need her, even if we don't want her.

Update: I have to add this delightful video of "Ms. Josephine Potter" singing On My Own. Thanks, Clint!

In Katie's defense, she wasn't that bad in All My Sons, however, if she better get to a vocal coach pronto if she doesn't want to be eviscerated by the critics cause the two times I've heard her sing (an episode of Dawson's Creek where she sang "On My Own" and an episode of Eli Stone this last season) were far from stellar.

The performance on Dawson's Creek was really disappointing, especially for a lil Moxie who was at the apex of her Les Miserables obsession in '98.

I did think she was bona fide awful in All My Sons. Love the play though.

Reidel says she played Mrs. Barrie in the workshop, and not the Kate Winslet role, so maybe it wouldn't be *such* an abomination.
